October 3 is a live transmission, not an on-demand release

The Metropolitan Opera lists Mozart's ‘Così fan tutte’ on Saturday, October 3 as the first live cinema transmission of its 2026–27 season. The performance originates on the Met stage and is sent live to participating theaters; it is not a promise that every cinema will show it at the same local clock time.

The cast announced by the Met includes Federica Lombardi as Fiordiligi, Samantha Hankey as Dorabella, Duke Kim as Ferrando and Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Guglielmo. A cinema listing should match both the title and the October 3 live date before a buyer pays.

The season has eight live transmissions

After ‘Così fan tutte,’ the schedule continues with ‘Macbeth’ on October 17, ‘Samson et Dalila’ on December 5, ‘La Fanciulla del West’ on January 23, ‘Silent Night’ on March 20, ‘Manon’ on April 3, ‘Otello’ on April 24 and ‘Parsifal’ on June 5.

The Met separately lists encore presentations of ‘Carmen,’ ‘The Magic Flute’ and ‘Tosca.’ Those are recorded encore programs, and their dates can vary internationally; they should not be confused with the eight Saturday matinee simulcasts.

A four-step check before buying

First, use the Met's cinema locator rather than assuming a theater participates because it showed a previous season. Second, confirm whether the listing says live or encore. Third, check the theater's local start time and time-zone conversion. Fourth, read the theater's refund and accessibility terms before checkout.

The Met says the cinema series has reached more than 2,200 screens in more than 70 countries, but that total is historical reach, not a guarantee that every screen is active for every title.

What the cinema ticket does not include

A Live in HD ticket is admission to a participating cinema, not to the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. It also does not automatically include later streaming access or a different encore date unless the seller states that separately.

If a local listing conflicts with the Met's season page, verify the title and time directly with the theater before traveling. The theater controls its room, seating and local customer-service policies.
