What we check
What’s the Scoop With Broach checks specific, consequential claims that readers can reasonably verify. Claims may come from elected officials, public agencies, viral posts, public figures, organizations, advertising, or widely repeated public assertions. Selection is based on public importance, potential harm, reach, and reader interest—not the speaker’s party or ideology.
How we research
Fact checks begin by identifying the exact claim and the evidence needed to test it. Priority is given to primary material such as laws, court records, government data, official forms, public filings, full speeches, direct statements, and original research. Relevant independent reporting and qualified experts may provide additional context. Articles identify or link to the evidence whenever practical so readers can review it themselves.
How conclusions are reached
The published conclusion reflects the strongest available evidence at the time. A verdict explains whether the claim is accurate, inaccurate, misleading, missing important context, unsupported, or not yet verifiable. The article explains the reasoning behind the conclusion rather than relying on a label alone. When the evidence is mixed or uncertain, that uncertainty is stated clearly.
Fairness and right of reply
Claims are evaluated using the same evidentiary standards regardless of political affiliation or viewpoint. When practical and material to the review, the person or organization responsible for a claim may be contacted for supporting evidence or comment. A lack of response is not treated by itself as proof that a claim is false.
Corrections and updates
Material errors are corrected promptly and transparently. New evidence may result in an update or revised conclusion, with the change explained to readers. Correction requests can be submitted through the corrections page or by emailing contact@whatsthescoopwithbroach.com.

What’s the Scoop With Broach is independently owned and published by Billy Roach. It is not owned by a political party, campaign, government agency, advocacy organization, or corporate news chain. The publication may be supported by the publisher’s resources, voluntary reader contributions, and clearly labeled advertising or sponsored content. Donors, advertisers, and sponsors do not determine fact-check selections, evidence, conclusions, or corrections.
