A person traveling from Bakersfield to Tehachapi or Boron should check the desired exit shortly before departure and identify the next usable interchange instead of making a last-second maneuver across traffic.

A separate shoulder closure on SR 202

The same advisory lists westbound shoulder work on State Route 202 between Banducci Road and the eastern Cummings Valley Road intersection near Tehachapi. Utility crews are scheduled Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for pole work. This is a shoulder closure, not a posted full road closure, but people should give workers space and expect brief delays.

The distinction matters because two different projects appear in the weekly notice. The SR 58 work affects exits and striping across several days; the SR 202 work is a one-day shoulder operation at a different location. Combining them into a claim that the Tehachapi corridor is closed would mislead drivers.
