KCSO Reports 3 Arrests and 3,944 Marijuana Plants Seized Across Maricopa-Taft Investigations

Two locations and three arrests

MARICOPA, Calif. — Kern County sheriff's deputies reported three arrests Friday after serving warrants at a property in the 500 block of Klipstein Street in Maricopa and another in the 400 block of E Street in Taft.

KCSO said Taft Substation deputies carried out the searches with the Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and wardens assigned to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Cannabis Enforcement Program.

The sheriff's public announcement and two news reports agree on the addresses, the names and ages of the people arrested, and the reported plant, processed-marijuana and firearm totals. The announcement is an account from the investigating agency; it is not a court finding.

What deputies reported at the Maricopa address

At the Maricopa property, deputies reported finding 959 marijuana plants, 52 pounds of processed marijuana and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun.

Jose Hernandez Ramirez, 27, and Victor de la Cruz Garcia, 27, were arrested on suspicion of marijuana cultivation, possessing marijuana for sale, maintaining a place for sales and a firearm-related offense tied to maintaining a place for sales, according to KCSO's announcement as reported by BakersfieldNow and GV Wire.

Those descriptions identify alleged offenses associated with the arrests. They do not establish who owned or controlled every item, what either man knew, whether prosecutors will file every listed allegation or whether either man will be convicted.

Taft totals span a longer investigation

At the Taft address, KCSO reported two loaded firearms and the arrest of Alberto Guitron, 58, on suspicion of possessing a firearm as a prohibited person and maintaining a residence for sales.

The sheriff's office described the Taft property as the subject of a lengthy marijuana-cultivation investigation involving several search warrants. Across that investigation, KCSO reported seizing 2,112 indoor plants, 873 outdoor plants, 641.5 pounds of processed marijuana and two loaded firearms.

That wording matters: the 2,985 Taft plants and 641.5 pounds are cumulative investigation totals. They should not be presented as though every item was discovered during the single September 4 warrant service.

How the combined figures were calculated

Adding KCSO's 959-plant Maricopa count to the reported 2,112 indoor and 873 outdoor plants connected to the Taft investigation produces 3,944 plants. Adding the reported 52 pounds from Maricopa to the 641.5-pound Taft total produces 693.5 pounds of processed marijuana.

Those calculations combine the agency's stated figures; they do not independently validate the inventory, laboratory composition, legal status, maturity or market value of the seized material. KCSO did not announce a street-value estimate in the sources reviewed for this report, and this publication is not supplying one.

KCSO said Ramirez, Garcia and Guitron were booked into the Lerdo Justice Facility. Booking records an arrest and detention—it is not proof of guilt.

What remains unestablished

The public announcement does not establish that the Kern County District Attorney has filed formal charges, that a judge has found probable cause on every allegation, that the seized firearms were unlawfully possessed by every person at either address or that the reported cultivation violated every applicable licensing rule.

No plea, conviction or sentencing information was announced. All three people are presumed innocent unless and until guilt is proved in court.
