Both recommendations are closed
USDA’s inspector general reported on October 28 that the Risk Management Agency supplied enough documentation to close both recommendations from the prevented-planting follow-up. The corrective actions met the recommendations’ intent.
Closure is a completed oversight status. It does not by itself measure whether future prevented-planting claims will be error-free.
| Measure | Result |
|---|---|
| Recommendations reviewed | 2 |
| Recommendations closed | 2 |
| Agreed estimated dates met | 0 of 2 |
| One-year final-action rule | Met for both |
Two clocks produced different answers
RMA did not finish by either agreed estimated completion date. The watchdog nevertheless found both actions were completed within one year of the management-decision date, the governing final-action requirement.
That distinction prevents two opposite overstatements: the fixes were not on schedule, but they also were not outside the one-year compliance period.
The agency followed the date-change guidance
The verification also says RMA complied with the Office of the Chief Financial Officer’s guidance when requesting an estimated-date change. Process compliance does not erase the missed estimates; it documents that the revision followed the applicable route.
The practical follow-up is performance data from the revised control, not another count of closed recommendations.
Method and limits
The newsroom compared the recommendation count, closure status and two deadline standards in the official verification. No crop-insurance claim file or producer record was reviewed.
The public summary reports no questioned costs or funds for better use, so this article makes no monetary-loss claim.
