A new paid-community platform
The team behind livestreaming platform Kick has launched a mobile application designed to help creators build paid fan communities.
Club offers subscriptions, tipping, paid content unlocks, direct engagement and an in-app payment system called Club Cash. Fans can create profiles, earn participation badges and interact with creators and other community members.
The company says the application accumulated more than 100,000 beta members before its public launch. Business Insider reported that approximately 3,000 creators had joined, many of them livestreamers from Kick.
The platform takes 20%
Club plans to remain advertising-free and earn money by retaining 20% of payments collected by creators. That percentage matches OnlyFans’ platform cut and is higher than the basic fees advertised by some competitors. Club does not permit explicit sexual content.
Its founders, Bijan Tehrani and Ed Craven, are also associated with Kick and the gambling platform Stake.com. Club’s chief executive says it will operate independently and develop its own moderation standards.
What creators should examine
The potential advantage is direct support from dedicated fans rather than depending entirely on advertising algorithms. The tradeoff is giving the platform one-fifth of earnings while asking audiences to join another app.
Before committing, creators should examine payment terms, moderation policies, refund rules and whether they can export subscriber information.
