A teenage rider died after a Wednesday-night collision
SHAFTER, Calif. — A 15-year-old riding what police described as a “mini-bike-style motorcycle” died after a collision with a vehicle Wednesday night in Shafter, according to Assistant Police Chief Brian Knox in a report published Thursday by KGET.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 9:05 p.m. September 16 to South Shafter Avenue and West Riverside Street. The reviewed report does not identify the teenager or the other person involved, and this outlet will not speculate about either identity.
Police say the investigation remains active
Knox told KGET that alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors as of Thursday. That preliminary assessment does not establish the cause of the crash or resolve questions about speed, visibility, right of way, lighting, protective equipment or vehicle condition.
