Fire grows to 100 acres in eastern Kern County
AERIAL ACRES, Calif. — Firefighters responded Sunday afternoon to a wildfire south of Rosewood Boulevard near Aerial Acres in eastern Kern County. The Alper Fire was first reported at approximately 4:45 p.m. on August 23, according to the state incident page.
Officials initially estimated the fire at 80 acres. A later update placed it at 100 acres, with the Kern County Fire Department listed as the agency responsible for the incident.
The cause remains under investigation. Officials had not reported civilian or firefighter injuries, fatalities, or structural damage in the latest incident information available Sunday night.
Forward progress has been stopped
The most recent narrative update says firefighters stopped the fire’s forward progress at approximately 100 acres. Crews were expected to remain at the scene conducting mop-up work and checking for hot spots.
