Three recommendations remain open

The Social Security Administration inspector general’s October 16 single-audit follow-up lists three open recommendations involving Nevada’s Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. None is marked significant in the public registry.

The count shows unresolved control work. It does not mean auditors identified three fraud cases or a quantified loss.

Open control work
AreaRequired check
Personnel service costsDetermine whether March 31, 2024 charges were correct
Federal obligation reportReview updated accuracy controls
Medical providersVerify and document licensing oversight
Questioned costs$0

The payroll question is expressly unresolved

Recommendation one asks SSA to work with Nevada to determine whether personnel service costs were correctly charged on Form SSA-4513 and make corrections if needed. That wording is a verification task, not a conclusion that the charges were wrong.

Recommendation two addresses the reporting control behind the same federal obligation form, moving the response from one transaction question to prevention.

Provider licensing is a service-integrity control

The third recommendation asks SSA to review whether Nevada established procedures to verify and document medical providers’ license status. The registry reports no dollar value for this weakness.

Licensing evidence matters independently of monetary recovery because disability determinations rely on medical sources. The audit record does not say an unlicensed provider produced a particular decision.

Method and limits

What’s the Scoop With Broach reviewed the federal recommendation registry and classified each open item by control objective. The newsroom did not review claimant medical information.

The zero questioned-cost field means the report did not assign a recoverable amount in this record; it is not proof that the controls carry no operational risk.
