Claim and verdict

CLAIM: Billie Eilish announced that she would release no more music until President Trump ‘ends the war.’

VERDICT: False. The video was altered.

A widely shared clip appears to show Eilish looking into a camera and making the announcement. Reuters traced the footage to an authentic TikTok video she posted in December 2024.

The authentic video contains no political statement

Eilish’s clothing, hair and surroundings match the earlier upload, but the original shows her doing her hair and makeup while music plays. She does not discuss Trump, a war or withholding future music.

Differences in her teeth and earrings provide visible clues that the new version was manipulated. Meta’s verification technology also detected evidence that the circulating clip was likely edited or created using the company’s AI models.

Reuters found no matching statement on Eilish’s official social-media accounts and no credible news report documenting such an announcement.

Familiar political views do not authenticate a clip

Eilish has expressed political opinions publicly in the past. That history does not make every attributed statement authentic.

Public figures associated with political causes may be especially attractive targets because viewers are more likely to believe fabricated remarks that seem consistent with their reputations.

Viewers should locate the original post, compare details across versions and check the speaker’s verified accounts before sharing a sensational statement.
