SHAFTER, Calif. — The Shafter Police Department says it has found no credible threat against local schools after becoming aware of concerning information circulating on social media Thursday.

Police said they take all reported threats seriously, are continuing to monitor the situation and will assess any new information that reaches the department. The finding is a current law-enforcement assessment—not a reason to ignore specific new evidence.

The department's public statement, as reported by BakersfieldNow at 2:18 p.m. September 3, did not identify a targeted campus, reproduce the posts, describe who created them or announce an arrest. Those details should not be inferred from screenshots or secondhand accounts.

What families should do now

Police are asking residents not to share or amplify unverified information. Anyone who has a specific post, message, account name or other concerning detail should preserve that information and report it directly to law enforcement instead of reposting it publicly.
